I'm Jeanne Oliver – author, tour guide, and long-time resident of Nice on the French Riviera. I offer expert private walking tours of the French Riviera, self-guided audio tours of Nice, and have written the insider’s guidebook Nice Uncovered: Walks Through the Secret Heart of a Historic City to help travelers explore this magical city beyond the tourist trail.
My experience in the travel business goes back decades. When I first moved to France it was to take a job as a tour leader which was a great way to discover the country! Later, I authored guidebooks for Lonely Planet and Frommers on various European destinations.
But my heart has always been on the French Riviera. In my writing and on my tours I look for the telling details, often overlooked, that illuminate the art, architecture, history and culture of the region I'm proud to call my home. My website, frenchrivieratraveller.com mixes insider knowledge of the region with practical details helping visitors discover it. Legendary author Rick Steves described French Riviera Traveller as "An extremely helpful website for visitors" in his France guidebook.

I was so pleased to be chosen to guide television personality Sandi Toksvig around Nice for the documentary Sandi Toksvig's Great Riviera Rail Trip! We had a blast filming along the Promenade des Anglais where I talk about how the British built the Promenade and in the Old Town where I talk about Queen Victoria's stays in Nice.
